Google Classroom is a free web service developed by Google for schools that aims to simplify creating, distributing, and grading assignments. The primary purpose of Google Classroom is to streamline the process of sharing files between teachers and students. 

myHomework is a digital student planner that lets you easily track your classes, homework, tests and projects so you never forget an assignment again. myHomework syncs across devices so you can easily access your classes and assignments anytime and anywhere.

Zoom is a cloud-based video communications app that allows you to set up virtual video and audio conferencing, webinars, live chats, screen-sharing, and other collaborative capabilities.

edX is a massive open online course (MOOC) provider created by Harvard and MIT. It hosts online university-level courses in a wide range of disciplines to a worldwide student body, including some courses at no charge. It also conducts research into learning based on how people use its platform. edX is a nonprofit organization and runs on the free Open edX open-source software platform.

Photomath is a mobile application described as a “camera calculator”, which utilizes a phone’s camera to recognise mathematical equations and to display the step-by-step solution onscreen.

SoloLearn is essentially a paradise for coding enthusiasts. Whether you are a beginner or a pro, soloLearn can get your coding juices flowing with its immense collection of free coding tutorials across languages like java, python, c++, swift, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and so on.

Udemy is one of the leading world wide online learning marketplaces (e-learning). More than 9 million students participate worldwide. With more than 80,000 courses most topics are covered and taught by experts. The courses are available on demand so that the learning is possible anywhere at any time, on the own pace.

Khan Academy invariably secures a top spot on the list of the best free educational apps for students. The app’s mission is to provide a free and world-class education for all curious minds across the globe.

Made for students from kindeargarten to 12th grade, Belouga gives kids access to a collection of educational resources. You’ll find everything from social sience videos to math problems to real-time communication with peers around the world.

Edmodo is an educational tool that connects teachers and students, and is assimilated into a social network. In this one, teachers can create online collaborative groups, administer and provide educational materials, measure student performance, and communicate with parents, among other functions.

Socrative is a system that allows teachers to create exercises or educational games which students can solve using mobile devices, whether smartphones, laptops, or tablets. Teachers can see the results of the activities and, depending on these, modify the subsequent lessons in order to make them more personalized.

Scratch is a simple, fun, and engaging introduction to programming, designed specifically for 8 to 16-year-olds. Users can combine music, graphics, and photos to create interactive games, animations, and slideshows. All of their creations are shareable with others in a student’s online community. It’s important to note that Scratch will really only teach programming concepts, not so much real, authentic programming.

Quizlet provides a platform for students and teachers to create and share their own learning materials, including flashcards and diagrams. Quizlet Live is the free in-class quiz game, produced by Quizlet, that can then bring these learning materials to life. In this engaging and interactive game, students must all contribute, stay focused and communicate well to win. Quizlet consistently receives excellent reviews and is a great way to bring study notes to into the 21st century.

SelfCAD is a free, cloud-based 3D CAD software package for students. It is incredibly easy to use, yet provides an authentic, ‘real world’ 3D design experience. Another notable feature— SelfCAD has teamed up with MyMiniFactory, to provide a database of already completed 3D printable designs, making thousands of 3D objects available for immediate 3D printing. All round, it is a very powerful and effective tool for learning in STEM, and a number of schools are getting on board.

Seesaw is an easy to use learning portfolio application, enabling students to document, showcase and reflect on what they are learning at school. Work can be made accessible to parents as well. The collective monitoring of learning by students, teachers, and parents is a great way to motivate students, and the tool is incredibly popular with teachers.
